Talk about a collapsed market! 

YES, IT'S An ENTIRE 13-STORY BUILDING IN CHINA LYING ON THE  GROUND.
 
(1)    An underground garage was being dug on the south 
Side of the building, to a depth of 4.6 meters (15 ft). 
 
(2) The excavated dirt was being piled up on the north 
Side of the building, to a height of 10 meters (32 ft). 

(3) They dug right up to the base of the building. 
Then the rains came.

(4) The building experienced uneven lateral pressure 
 From north to south. 

(5) This  resulted in a lateral pressure of 3,000 tonnes, 
Which was greater than what the un-reinforced pilings 
Could tolerate. Thus, the building toppled completely 
Over in a southerly direction.
 
*First, the apartment building was constructed.* 

Then the plan called for an underground garage to be dug out. 
The excavated soil was piled up on the other side of the building.

*Heavy rains resulted in water seeping into the ground.*

The building began to tilt. Then it began to shift, and the 
"hollow" concrete pilings were snapped due to the uneven 
Lateral pressures.

And thus was born the eighth wonder of the world. 
 
If these buildings were closer together, 
It would have resulted in a domino effect.

Notice that there's NO rebar in the pilings!
Just some wire mesh.

They built 13 stories on grade, with no basement, 
 And tied it all down to hollow pilings with no rebar.

Best estimates place the re-entry time during the late hours of Sept. 23rd over a still-unknown region of Earth. In September 2001, Honeybee Robotics employees in lower Manhattan were building a
pair of tools for grinding weathered rinds off rocks on Mars, so that scientific instruments
on NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity could inspect the rocks'
interiors.

That month's attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center, less than a mile
away, shook the lives of the employees and millions of others.

Work on the rock abrasion tools needed to meet a tight schedule to allow thorough
testing before launch dates governed by the motions of the planets. The people building
the tools could not spend much time helping at shelters or in other ways to cope with
the life-changing tragedy of Sept. 11. However, they did find a special way to pay tribute
to the thousands of victims who perished in the attack.

An aluminum cuff serving as a cable shield on each of the rock abrasion tools on Mars
was made from aluminum recovered from the destroyed World Trade Center towers.
The metal bears the image of an American flag and fills a renewed purpose as part of
solar system exploration.

Honeybee Robotics collaborated with the New York mayor's office; a metal-working
shop in Round Rock, Texas; NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.; and
the rover missions' science leader, Steve Squyres, at Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.

"It's gratifying knowing that a piece of the World Trade Center is up there on Mars. That
shield on Mars, to me, contrasts the destructive nature of the attackers with the
ingenuity and hopeful attitude of Americans," said Stephen Gorevan, Honeybee founder
and chairman, and a member of the Mars rover science team.

On the morning of Sept. 11, 2011, Gorevan was six blocks from the World Trade
Center, riding his bicycle to work, when he heard an airliner hit the first tower. "Mostly,
what comes back to me even today is the sound of the engines before the first plane
struck the tower. Just before crashing into the tower, I could hear the engines being
revved up as if those behind the controls wanted to ensure the maximum destruction. I
stopped and stared for a few minutes and realized I felt totally helpless, and I left the
scene and went to my office nearby, where my colleagues told me a second plane had
struck. We watched the rest of the sad events of that day from the roof of our facility."

At Honeybee's building on Elizabeth Street, as in the rest of the area, normal activities
were put on hold for days, and the smell from the collapse of the towers persisted for
weeks.

Steve Kondos, who was at the time a JPL engineer working closely with the Honeybee
team, came up with the suggestion for including something on the rovers as an
interplanetary memorial. JPL was building the rovers and managing the project.

To carry out the idea, an early hurdle was acquiring an appropriate piece of material
from the World Trade Center site. Through Gorevan's contacts, a parcel was delivered
to Honeybee Robotics from the mayor's office on Dec. 1, 2001, with a twisted plate of
aluminum inside and a note: "Here is debris from Tower 1 and Tower 2."

Tom Myrick, an engineer at Honeybee, saw the possibility of machining the aluminum
into the cable shields for the rock abrasion tools. He hand-delivered the material to the
machine shop in Texas that was working on other components of the tools. When the
shields were back in New York, he affixed an image of the American flag on each.

The Mars Exploration Rover Spirit was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station, Fla., on June 10, 2003. Opportunity's launch followed on July 7. Both rovers
landed the following January and completed their three-month prime missions in April
2004. Nobody on the rover team or at Honeybee spoke publicly about the source of the
aluminum on the cable shields until later that year.

"It was meant to be a quiet tribute," Gorevan told a New York Times reporter writing a
November 2004 story about Manhattan's participation in the rover missions. "Enough
time has passed. We want the families to know."

Since landing on the Red Planet, both rovers have made important discoveries about
wet environments on ancient Mars that may have been favorable for supporting
microbial life. Spirit ended communications in March 2010. Opportunity is still active,
and researchers plan to use its rock abrasion tool on selected targets around a large
crater that the rover reached last month.

One day, both rovers will be silent. In the cold, dry environments where they have
worked on Mars, the onboard memorials to victims of the Sept. 11 attack could remain
in good condition for millions of years.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., a division of the California Institute of
Technology, manages the Mars Exploration Rovers for NASA.

GRAIL and the Mystery of the Missing Moon

Update on Vahik Abrahamian

Pastor Vahik Abrahamian, an Armenian Christian, was arrested with his wife, Sonia Keshish Avanessian, on Saturday, Sept. 4 2010 in his home in Hamedan. The couple, along with two family friends, were held for 44 days in solitary confinement. All were subject to intensive interrogation and severe mental and psychological torture without the ability to contact family or friends. The others were eventually released, but Pastor Vahik was held for more than a year. He was released after family and friends raised the equivalent of about $10,000 for his bail.

NEWS: Wisconsin to observe 10th anniversary of 9/11 with official ceremony

The 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks will be observed at the Wisconsin State Capitol on Sunday, Sept. 11 in an approximately one-hour public ceremony beginning at 7:30 a.m. outside the South entrance (South Hamilton Street).

The public is invited to join Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, adjutant general of Wisconsin, and state and federal officials to pay tribute to Wisconsinites who perished at the Twin Towers and the Pentagon on 9/11, as well as first responders and all others who lost their lives in the attacks on America and in the global war on terror. Family members of the more than 150 service members from or with Wisconsin connections who have died in the global war on terror will also be in attendance.

The commemoration will include music by the Wisconsin Army National Guard's 132nd Army Band, an F-16 flyover, 21-gun salute and wreath laying. Members of the Madison Police Department and the Capitol Police will post our nation's colors and a joint service color guard will retrieve them. Gen. Dunbar will share his recollections of being on duty in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11, 2001 and also serving as the commander of the Wisconsin National Guard.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the Capitol Rotunda.

Immediately following the ceremony, a 90-minute Freedom Walk, sponsored by Operation Homefront, will begin from the Capitol Square. Registration and check-in for the event begins at 7 a.m.

All events are open to the public. Those unable to attend can view the ceremony live on Wisconsin Public Television. The ceremony will also be re-broadcast in its entirety beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 on The Wisconsin Channel.

The Burial of Jesus

In 1980 archaeologists excavating in the Talpiot neighborhood of Jerusalem discovered a burial cave filled with ten ossuaries, or bone boxes, dating to the first century A.D. Six of the ossuaries were inscribed with names: Jesus son of Joseph; Mary; Mary; Joseph; Judah son of Jesus and Matthew.

Doctor's Appointment

I called the VA today three times.
The first time they transferred me to a clerk. Then the clerk transferred me to a nurse in the pain clinic but she's out till Friday-said her voice mail.
The second time I called they transferred me right to the same voice mail for the nurse in the pain clinic.
THe third time I got a nurse's clerk who took down my information and told me that she was going to give this information to a nurse and she would call me back when she got done calling other patients.
Two hours later I got a call and she found a time for me to get in tomorrow at 830am with an on call doctor. Then she just happened to look at my primary doctors schedule and found an opening at 130pm. She was surprised that he had an opening. I wasn't because I knew God's hand of mercy was working there.
Dad is going into work at 1am tomorrow morning to make up the 8 hours he would loose taking me to the doctor at 130pm. He is going to work till 1030am tomorrow and then come get me to take me to the VA Hospital for my appointment. It is pure torture for me to be in a car. The vibration of the vehicle and the slightest bump causes me a lot of pain.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA's Gravity Recovery And Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) mission
to study the moon is in final launch preparations for a scheduled Sept. 8 launch from Cape Canaveral
Air Force Station in Florida.

GRAIL's twin spacecraft are tasked for a nine-month mission to explore Earth's nearest neighbor in
unprecedented detail. They will determine the structure of the lunar interior from crust to core and
advance our understanding of the thermal evolution of the moon.

"Yesterday's final encapsulation of the spacecraft is an important mission milestone," said David
Lehman, GRAIL project manager for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "Our
two spacecraft are now sitting comfortably inside the payload fairing which will protect them during
ascent. Next time the GRAIL twins will see the light of day, they will be about 95 miles up and
accelerating."

The spacecraft twins, GRAIL-A and GRAIL-B, will fly aboard a Delta II rocket launched from
Florida. The twins' circuitous route to lunar orbit will take 3.5 months and cover approximately 2.6
million miles (4.2 million kilometers) for GRAIL-A, and 2.7 million miles (4.3 million kilometers)
for GRAIL-B.

In lunar orbit, the spacecraft will transmit radio signals precisely defining the distance between them.
Regional gravitational differences on the moon are expected to expand and contract that distance.

GRAIL scientists will use these accurate measurements to define the moon's gravity field. The data
will allow mission scientists to understand what goes on below the surface of our natural satellite.

"GRAIL will unlock lunar mysteries and help us understand how the moon, Earth and other rocky
planets evolved as well," said Maria Zuber, GRAIL principal investigator from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in Cambridge.

GRAIL's launch period opens Sept. 8 and extends through Oct. 19. On each day, there are two
separate launch opportunities separated by approximately 39 minutes. On Sept. 8, the first launch
opportunity is 8:37 a.m. EDT (5:37 a.m. PDT); the second is 9:16 a.m. EDT (6:16 a.m. PDT).

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., manages the GRAIL mission. The
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, is home to the mission's principal investigator,
Maria Zuber. The GRAIL mission is part of the Discovery Program managed at NASA's Marshall
Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver, built the spacecraft.
Launch management for the mission is the responsibility of NASA's Launch Services Program at the
Kennedy Space Center in Florida. JPL is a division of the California Institute of Technology in
Pasadena.

Union curbs rescue a Wisconsin school district

"This is a disaster," said Mark Miller, the Wisconsin Senate Democratic leader, in February after Republican Gov. Scott Walker proposed a budget bill that would curtail the collective bargaining powers of some public employees. Miller predicted catastrophe if the bill were to become law -- a charge repeated thousands of times by his fellow Democrats, union officials, and protesters in the streets.

Now the bill is law, and we have some very early evidence of how it is working. And for one beleaguered Wisconsin school district, it's a godsend, not a disaster.

The Kaukauna School District, in the Fox River Valley of Wisconsin near Appleton, has about 4,200 students and about 400 employees. It has struggled in recent times and this year faced a deficit of $400,000. But after the law went into effect, at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, school officials put in place new policies they estimate will turn that $400,000 deficit into a $1.5 million surplus. And it's all because of the very provisions that union leaders predicted would be disastrous.

In the past, teachers and other staff at Kaukauna were required to pay 10 percent of the cost of their health insurance coverage and none of their pension costs. Now, they'll pay 12.6 percent of the cost of their coverage (still well below rates in much of the private sector) and also contribute 5.8 percent of salary to their pensions. The changes will save the school board an estimated $1.2 million this year, according to board President Todd Arnoldussen.

Of course, Wisconsin unions had offered to make benefit concessions during the budget fight. Wouldn't Kaukauna's money problems have been solved if Walker had just accepted those concessions and not demanded cutbacks in collective bargaining powers?

"The monetary part of it is not the entire issue," says Arnoldussen, a political independent who won a spot on the board in a nonpartisan election. Indeed, some of the most important improvements in Kaukauna's outlook are because of the new limits on collective bargaining.

In the past, Kaukauna's agreement with the teachers union required the school district to purchase health insurance coverage from something called WEA Trust -- a company created by the Wisconsin teachers union. "It was in the collective bargaining agreement that we could only negotiate with them," says Arnoldussen. "Well, you know what happens when you can only negotiate with one vendor." This year, WEA Trust told Kaukauna that it would face a significant increase in premiums.

Now, the collective bargaining agreement is gone, and the school district is free to shop around for coverage. And all of a sudden, WEA Trust has changed its position. "With these changes, the schools could go out for bids, and lo and behold, WEA Trust said, 'We can match the lowest bid,'" says Republican state Rep. Jim Steineke, who represents the area and supports the Walker changes. At least for the moment, Kaukauna is staying with WEA Trust, but saving substantial amounts of money.

Then there are work rules. "In the collective bargaining agreement, high school teachers only had to teach five periods a day, out of seven," says Arnoldussen. "Now, they're going to teach six." In addition, the collective bargaining agreement specified that teachers had to be in the school 37 1/2 hours a week. Now, it will be 40 hours.

The changes mean Kaukauna can reduce the size of its classes -- from 31 students to 26 students in high school and from 26 students to 23 students in elementary school. In addition, there will be more teacher time for one-on-one sessions with troubled students. Those changes would not have been possible without the much-maligned changes in collective bargaining.

Teachers' salaries will stay "relatively the same," Arnoldussen says, except for higher pension and health care payments. (The top salary is around $80,000 per year, with about $35,000 in additional benefits, for 184 days of work per year -- summers off.) Finally, the money saved will be used to hire a few more teachers and institute merit pay.

It is impossible to overstate how bitter and ugly the Wisconsin fight has been, and that bitterness and ugliness continues to this day with efforts to recall senators and an unseemly battle inside the state Supreme Court. But the new law is now a reality, and Gov. Walker recently told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the measure will gain acceptance "with every day, week and month that goes by that the world doesn't fall apart."

In the Kaukauna schools, the world is not only not falling apart -- it's getting better.

New observations from the Herschel Space Observatory show a bizarre, twisted ring of
dense gas at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. Only a few portions of the ring, which
stretches across more than 600 light-years, were known before. Herschel's view reveals
the entire ring for the first time, and a strange kink that has astronomers scratching their
heads.

"We have looked at this region at the center of the Milky Way many times before in the
infrared," said Alberto Noriega-Crespo of NASA's Infrared Processing and Analysis
Center at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. "But when we looked at the
high-resolution images using Herschel's sub-millimeter wavelengths, the presence of a
ring is quite clear." Noriega-Crespo is co-author of a new paper on the ring published in a
recent issue of Astrophysical Journal Letters.

The Herschel Space Observatory is a European Space Agency-led mission with important
NASA contributions. It sees infrared and sub-millimeter light, which can readily
penetrate through the dust hovering between the bustling center of our galaxy and us.
Herschel's detectors are also suited to see the coldest stuff in our galaxy.

When astronomers turned the giant telescope to look at the center of our galaxy, it
captured unprecedented views of its inner ring -- a dense tube of cold gas mixed with dust,
where new stars are forming.

Astronomers were shocked by what they saw -- the ring, which is in the plane of our
galaxy, looked more like an infinity symbol with two lobes pointing to the side. In fact,
they later determined the ring was torqued in the middle, so it only appears to have two
lobes. To picture the structure, imagine holding a stiff, elliptical band and twisting the
ends in opposite directions, so that one side comes up a bit.

"This is what is so exciting about launching a new space telescope like Herschel," said
Sergio Molinari of the Institute of Space Physics in Rome, Italy, lead author of the new
paper. "We have a new and exciting mystery on our hands, right at the center of our own
galaxy."

Observations with the ground-based Nobeyama Radio Observatory in Japan
complemented the Herschel results by determining the velocity of the denser gas in the
ring. The radio results demonstrate that the ring is moving together as a unit, at the same
speed relative to the rest of the galaxy.

The ring lies at the center of our Milky Way's bar -- a bar-shaped region of stars at the
center of its spidery spiral arms. This bar is actually inside an even larger ring. Other
galaxies have similar bars and rings. A classic example of a ring inside a bar is in the
galaxy NGC 1097 (http://www.spitzer.caltech.edu/images/2687-ssc2009-14a-Coiled-Creature-of-the-Night),
imaged here by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. The ring glows brightly in the center of the galaxy's
large bar structure. It is not known if that ring has a kink or not.

The details of how bars and rings form in spiral galaxies are not well understood, but
computer simulations demonstrate how gravitational interactions can produce the
structures. Some theories hold that bars arise out of gravitational interactions between
galaxies. For example, the bar at the center of our Milky Way might have been
influenced by our largest neighbor galaxy, Andromeda.

The twist in the ring is not the only mystery to come out of the new Herschel
observations. Astronomers say that the center of the torqued portion of the ring is not
where the center of the galaxy is thought to be, but slightly offset. The center of our
galaxy is considered to be around "Sagittarius A*," where a massive black hole lies.
According to Noriega-Crespo, it's not clear why the center of the ring doesn't match up
with the assumed center of our galaxy. "There's still so much about our galaxy to
discover," he said.

Crews Near Completion of Cargo Transfers

Moving days aboard the International Space Station are nearing completion for the station and shuttle crews.

The 9,400 pounds of equipment and supplies brought up by the multi-purpose logistics module have been moved to the International Space Station. The loading of Raffaello with almost 5,700 pounds of unneeded station equipment and trash also is almost finished.

The Raffaelo module is scheduled to be unberthed early Monday from the station's Harmony node and secured in space shuttle Atlantis' cargo bay for the ride home. At the controls of the station's Canadarm2 will be Atlantis Mission Specialist Sandra Magnus, who served as load master for the complex and demanding cargo transfer, and Pilot Doug Hurley.

The crew is scheduled to awaken at 10:29 p.m.

PASADENA, Calif. -- On July 15, NASA's Dawn spacecraft will begin a prolonged encounter with
the asteroid Vesta, making the mission the first to enter orbit around a main-belt asteroid.

The main asteroid belt lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Dawn will study Vesta for one
year, and observations will help scientists understand the earliest chapter of our solar system's
history.

As the spacecraft approaches Vesta, surface details are coming into focus, as seen in a recent image
taken from a distance of about 26,000 miles (41,000 kilometers). The image is available at:

Engineers expect the spacecraft to be captured into orbit at approximately 10 p.m. PDT Friday, July
15 (1 a.m. EDT Saturday, July 16). They expect to hear from the spacecraft and confirm that it
performed as planned during a scheduled communications pass that starts at approximately 11:30
p.m. PDT on Saturday, July 16 (2:30 a.m. EDT Sunday, July 17). When Vesta captures Dawn into its
orbit, engineers estimate there will be approximately 9,900 miles (16,000 kilometers) between them.
At that point, the spacecraft and asteroid will be approximately 117 million miles (188 million
kilometers) from Earth.

"It has taken nearly four years to get to this point," said Robert Mase, Dawn project manager at
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "Our latest tests and check-outs show that
Dawn is right on target and performing normally."

Engineers have been subtly shaping Dawn's trajectory for years to match Vesta's orbit around the sun.
Unlike other missions, where dramatic propulsive burns put spacecraft into orbit around a planet,
Dawn will ease up next to Vesta. Then the asteroid's gravity will capture the spacecraft into orbit.
However, until Dawn nears Vesta and makes accurate measurements, the asteroid's mass and gravity
will only be estimates. So the Dawn team will need a few days to refine the exact moment of orbit
capture.

Launched in September 2007, Dawn will depart for its second destination, the dwarf planet Ceres, in
July 2012. The spacecraft will be the first to orbit two bodies in our solar system.

Dawn's mission to Vesta and Ceres is managed by JPL for NASA's Science Mission Directorate in
Washington. Dawn is a project of the directorate's Discovery Program, which is managed by NASA's
Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. UCLA is responsible for overall Dawn mission
science. Orbital Sciences Corp. of Dulles, Va., designed and built the spacecraft. The German
Aerospace Center, the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, the Italian Space Agency and
the Italian National Astrophysical Institute are part of the mission team.

Aboard the docked Atlantis/International Space Station complex, the combined 10-member crew wrapped up its busy day of transfer work.

Station lead flight director Chris Edelen said at an afternoon briefing that about half of the cargo had been moved from Raffaello and the shuttle's middeck to the space station. Almost 5,700 pounds of unneeded equipment and supplies from the station will be packed aboard the module for return to Earth.

Crew members opened Pressurized Mating Adaptor 3, attached to the Tranquility node, and stored some of the material from Raffaello there. On Tuesday spacewalkers had put an insulating cover on the outside of PMA-3 to protect it from temperature extremes.

A little before 1 p.m. EDT, all four shuttle crew members talked with representatives of WBNG-TV and WICZ-TV in Binghamton, N.Y., near Pilot Doug Hurley's home town of Apalachin, and KGO-TV of San Francisco. Mission Specialist Rex Walheim is from nearby San Carlos.

Expedition 28 Flight Engineers Mike Fossum and Ron Garan completed a six-hour, 31-minute spacewalk at 3:53 p.m. EDT Tuesday, retrieving a failed pump module for return to Earth, installing two experiments and repairing a new base for the station's robotic arm.

Inside the shuttle-station complex, transfer of material from the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module began. The work to unload the more than 9,400 pounds of supplies and equipment brought up by Raffaello and then repack it with 5,700 pounds of equipment, supplies and trash to return home will continue for much of Atlantis stay at the station.

The crew is scheduled to awaken just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Spacewalkers Mike Fossum and Ron Garan completed their first task, moving a failed pump module from a temporary storage site on the outside of the space station to the cargo bay of space shuttle Atlantis. Returning the module, which failed last year and disabled half of the station's cooling system, is a key objective of the STS-135 mission. Engineers will diagnose what caused the failure so they can take steps to mitigate future pump module failures.

I NEED to do something to get back down to 112 pounds.
I want to do more exercising but if no one does it with me, I wont keep at it.
Walking is good but I want to get back to jogging and possibly running.
It's going to take a while to get to that.
Anyone willing to help?
I have membership for Dad and I at Anytime Fitness in Portage.
When I go there I feel like everyone is looking at me.
I'm very insecure about how much weight I've put on. And ashamed of it.

STS-135 Flight Day 4 is drawing to a close as the crews of the International Space Station and Atlantis prepare for bed at 6:29 p.m. EDT and 6:59 p.m., respectively.

They attached the Raffaello multi-purpose logistics module to the Earth-facing port of the station's Harmony node at 6:45 a.m., opened the hatch at 12:10 p.m. and began offloading 9,403 pounds of spare parts, equipment and supplies. They also prepared for the mission's only spacewalk, which will be conducted by station crew members Mike Fossum and Ron Garan beginning at 8:44 a.m. EDT Tuesday.

At 11:07 a.m. EDT, Commander Chris Ferguson guided space shuttle Atlantis into pressurized mating adapter #2 on the International Space Station's Harmony node. The two spacecraft were flying about 240 miles high, east of New Zealand, at the time they docked.

This was the 12th and final time Atlantis docked to the space station. It was the 46th shuttle docking to a space station, nine to the Russian Mir station and 37 to the International Space Station. Atlantis performed seven of the nine Mir dockings. This was the 86th space shuttle rendezvous operation and the 164th "proximity operation" in the history of the Space Shuttle Program, where a shuttle conducted operations in close proximity to another spacecraft.

The shuttle and station crews will open hatches and hold the traditional welcome ceremony at about 1:19 p.m. Atlantis' crew of Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim will join Expedition 28 Commander Andrey Borisenko and Flight Engineers Alexander Samokutyaev and Sergei Volkov of Russia, Satoshi Furukawa from Japan, and NASA's Ron Garan and Mike Fossum.

The combined crew of 10 begins more than a week of docked operations, transferring vital supplies and equipment to sustain station operations once the shuttles are retired.

"I usually go by Bekah.
I've been taking lessons with a lovely lady from my church named Laura Culver for only about a month. She lets me come out when we are both available to go riding. On the type of riding we do, (like western or english?) we just have fun! Laura Culver is also introducing me to riding cart with a horse. She has one of her horses, Fanny, trained to ride with a single axle wooden cart.
I would love to own a horse some day but right now I'm loving every minute of Sheri Strand Brendemuehl's horses and Laura Culver's horses.
My riding goal is to go on longer trail rides with Laura Culver and maybe be in a show at the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison,WI.
I'm a Marine. I was seriously injured in bootcamp and was medically retired. It is a great regret of mine that I never got to complete training and it still haunts me today. I did serve with my unit before bootcamp, in Green Bay, WI as a Bulk Fuel Specialist and loved every second of it.
I just started reading a little bit before I started taking lessons and I always keep an eye out at Tractor Supply to see if the next issue has come out.
I have never won anything and since this didn't cost a thing to enter I thought 'Give it a shot' and I did. Bulls-eye.
I have always been around horses, since I was a freshman in highschool. I took care of a horse for Clara Ericson. The horse was 42 and I only got to love on her a year before she passed. Tamby was my favorite horse, white as snow, like an angel. Tamby and I had a real special bond. She loved it when I sang to her when I would groom her. She would stand still for hours, not moving, while I brushed her. A funny thing about her, she liked bread. I have never found a horse since her that likes bread. Clara really got me started in horses and Laura has brought me the next step.
I found out I won the saddle on the first anniversary of my Mom's death. My Mom was my best friend and I know she is now my guardian angel looking out for me."

With the International Space Station flying 220 miles high and east of Christchurch, New Zealand, Atlantis left Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:29 a.m. EDT. There was a slight delay at T-31 seconds while retraction of the Gaseous Oxygen Vent Arm, or "Beanie Cap," was verified. Atlantis will dock with the space station on Sunday.

WASHINGTON -- Emmy-nominated composer Bear McCreary, known for his television scores, has composed a fanfare specifically to commemorate the final space shuttle flight. After composing four seasons of music for a television show set in space, creating music inspired by a historic NASA mission was a natural fit. The composition will be played first on Friday morning at the NASA launch TweetUp.

People viewing the launch from some of the other locations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida will also be able to hear the composition.

McCreary composed the music for the television series Battlestar Galactica; The Walking Dead; Eureka; Human Target; and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. He also worked with film music legend Elmer Bernstein, who composed the music for The Magnificent Seven and The Ten Commandments.

NASA has worked with artists since 1962, when Administrator James E. Webb invited a group of artists to illustrate and interpret agency missions and projects. Artists, songwriters, musicians and playwrights have offered their unique perspectives on spaceflight ever since. NASA also has a long and storied connection with pop culture, frequently working with creators of science fiction films and television programs to discuss science fact.

The January 5^th, 1913 sermons were ‘After Christmas, what?’ and a New Year’s sermon. On January 8^th, 1913 three comforters were packed to send to the Lake Bluff Orphanage. “Some people will go 15 or 20 miles to church next Sunday, others won’t go across the street. Everyone should go with a glad heart any reasonable distance. A welcome to all” read a greeting from the Methodist Church service section in the January 10^th, 1913 Pardeeville Times. The sermons for January 12^th were ‘The deep water ways of the religious life’ and ‘The adjustment of Christianity to the individual’. “A good place for a man to go to get over the grippe is to church. Though the weather may be cold you will find a warm welcome with us.”-Pardeeville Times January 16, 1913. The sermons for Jan. 18^th were ‘An expedient departure’ and ‘Truth’s dominion’. Pardeeville Times February 1^st, 1913: “There are many death bed regrets but whoever regretted going to church? You shall not regret being with us next Sabbath. Come early.” The sermons for Feb. 3^rd were ‘If you fail who is to blame?’ and ‘A bewildered man finding his way to God.’ “Some people do not attend church because they are afraid of hypocrites’ but they attend saloons quite regularly. A little reflection should open men’s eyes.”-Pardeeville Times Feb. 7^th, 1913. The sermons for Feb. 9^th were ‘A sure relief from human anxiety’ and ‘What we can well afford to part with and what we can ill afford to lose’. Pardeeville Times Feb. 14^th, 1913: “Some of the most pleasant memories that men have just before they are received into the arms of death are their devotion to Him and their loyalty to the services of His temple. You have a most cordial welcome to the above services.” The sermons for Feb. 16^th were ‘The link that never breaks’ and ‘True patriotism’. The sermons for Feb. 23^rd were ‘The Immortal society’ and ‘Lessons from the life of Washington’. March 2^nd Rev. Gleason of Kankakee preached in the pulpit. “Providence has permitted us to see another March. Let us make this month a record breaker by marching to church every Sunday. The ME Church has a hearty welcome for you.”-March 7^th, 1913 Pardeeville Times. The sermons for March 9^th were ‘The experience of true faith’ and ‘Why the entire human race has had to fight against idolatry’. Pardeeville Times March 14^th, 1913: “The path to the church leads away from the saloon, poverty and the penitentiary. It is a safe way to travel. We shall be glad to have you join with us on this way. Come next Sabbath.” ‘God is love’ and ‘The declarations of the heavens’ were the sermons for March 16^th. The Easter Program for March 23^rd was extensive. It opened by a song by the Sunday school. Then the pastor led the congregation in prayer. Then a scripture lesson was given by the primary department, a duet was heard by Evelyn Spear and Clarella Cain. A recitation was given by Thelma Collins and a class song presented by the intermediate department. Then a exercise done by the girls from the primary department, song by the Juniors, exercise by three junior boys, a song titled ‘Spring is coming’ by the primary department and an exercise by four junior boys. Then a concert piece was presented by the junior girls and a song was enjoyed by the choir. A recitation by Bernice Kennedy was enjoyed and an exercise was given by seven primary boys. A solo by Clarella Cain, Easter message by the primary department, recitation by Irma Kohler, duet by Mrs. Purves and Myrtle Green, exercise by five junior girls, song by the choir, ‘My Savior’s Cross’ by four junior girls, remarks by the Pastor, solo by Miss Isabel Young, and song benediction ‘All hail the power of Jesus name’. Pardeeville Times April 4^th, 1913: “Pastor Olson of the ME church is in receipt of a letter acknowledging with great thanks for the contributions of last Sunday by the ME, FM, and Presbyterian churches for the fold and storm sufferers of Indiana and Ohio.” The morning sermon was given by district superintendent Rev. Robert S. Ingraham and the evening union service was at the Free Methodist church. “The day will come when everyone will believe in going to church but with some it may be too late to attend, for they may be in a churchless country. We are now by God’s providence in a country of churches. Shall we spurn or take advantage of our opportunity? You are always welcome with us.”-Pardeeville Times April 18^th, 1913.The morning sermon for April 20^th was ‘Easter in its relation to world movements’ and the evening sermon was ‘When the righteousness of the righteous shall not save him and the wickedness of the wicked shall not condemn him’. The evening service was devoted to the flood and storm sufferers and a collection for them was taken. April 22^nd a stereopticon lecture was given at the church. The sermons for April 27^th were delivered by Rev. O. D. The primary department and first year Juniors sang two selections at the morning service of May 4^th. May 14^th the Ladies Aid Society met at Mrs. Ada Chandler’s to serve a supper consisting of hash. May 16^th Dr. Chas. F. Aked, the former London preacher and noted New York speaker of Rev. MacInnis’ platform work at the Delavan Chautauqua, preached at the church. A Mother’s Day program of readings, recitations, and music was prepared for the morning service on May 18^th. “Here is one reason why we sometimes find it an effort to go to the house of God. Our life is not on the same plane with the house of God. It is always an effort to go up hill. Make the effort next Sabbath.”-Pardeeville Times May 16^th, 1913. The sermons for May 18^th were ‘The Good and perfect gifts of God’ and ‘How to exterminate evil’. The morning service of May 25^th was a union memorial service and in the evening a baccalaureate service was at the Presbyterian Church. Rev. Oliver of Horicon preached in the morning and evening of June 1^st. The Ladies Aid Society met at the church June 11^th to sponsor an all church cleaning day. The sermons for June 8^th were ‘The chief purpose of the gospel’ and ‘A sermon to men’. The sermons for June 19^th were ‘The power of gentleness’ and ‘A religion for the man who wants large returns’. “Meditate upon the above subjects and come prepared to compare notes with the speaker. If it is too warm to wear a coat come without one.” July 6^th the morning sermon was ‘Waiting for employment’ and the evening service was a union service at the Presbyterian Church. July 13^th morning sermon was ‘Life’s great achievement’ and the evening service was a union service at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. J. B. Cole preached in the pulpit July 20^th. July 27^th a union service was held at the Presbyterian Church. The morning sermon for August 3^rd was ‘Rest, Refreshment’ Restoration’ and the evening sermon were ‘Hidden dangers in human life’. August 10^th a union service was held at the Free Methodist Church where Rev. Mrs. Moore preached. August 31^st the morning sermon was focused on ‘Debt, easy to get into, hard to get out of, glad to get rid of’ because the church had paid off all its debts. A union service at the Free Methodist church took place in the evening. September 7^th the sermon in the evening was ‘When the biggest task is most easily done’. The sermons for September 21^st were ‘The humanly impossible made possible by the church of Christ’ and ‘A brief sketch of a delightful conference’. October 5^th the sermon in the morning was ‘John Wesley and early Methodism’ and the sermon in the evening was ‘Waiting to be gracious’. October 12^th an address by Rev. W. J. Carr, Superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League of the Appleton district. He addressed a union meeting at the Presbyterian Church. October 17^th, 1913: “The dying would go to church if he could; the living (many exceptions to be sure) can go to church wont. The above is an eye opener. Think about it.” The sermons for October 19^th were ‘The real history of American Methodism’ and ‘How many the tremendous loss of treasure and life be stopped in Pardeeville?” ‘Love on the throne’ and ‘What shall the harvest be?’ were the sermons for November 2^nd. November 9^th the Sunday school did a program on Lincoln-Lee. The Women’s Foreign Missionary Society met at the church November 13^th and 14^th. Miss Forsythe, a missionary from India, spoke. November 30^th Rev. G. W. Lester of Horicon preached in the pulpit. December 1^st the sermon in the morning was ‘the church militant and the church triumphant’. In the evening a union Thanksgiving service was held at the church. ‘The open door to the fullness of life’ and ‘The renaissance and its suggestions for today’ were the sermons for December 7^th. December 13^th the Ladies Aid Society held a bazaar in the church basement with a chicken pie supper consisting of mashed potatoes, gravy, rutabagas, cabbage salad, mixed pickles, brown and white bread, fruit salad, cakes, tea and coffee. There was an apron booth, Japanese booth, candies and baked goods for sale; handmade handkerchiefs, ‘Principles that have made men and organizations effective’ and ‘The lamp of God that burns in every tribe and nation’ were the sermons for December 14^th. 1913 entry by the Ladies Aid Society: This year we have been on the same old round, but have had some extras ‘for spice’. We tacked a mattress, served an Alumnae supper and held a supper at Dr. Chandler’s. Besides are other expenses, we were able to help a family that had been burned out, and sent many flowers to sick people, and bought three dozen new chairs for the church.”

‘The inner revelation’ and ‘The soul’s looking glass’ were the sermons for January 25^th, 1914. ‘A man’s true life’ and ‘the location of guilt without a coroner’s jury’ were the sermons for February 8^th. The sermon for February 15^th was ‘The gospel bleaching the blackest human fabrics’. The Ladies Aid Society held a chicken pie supper at the Odd Fellow’s Hall on February 21^st. The sermons for Feb. 22^nd were ‘The glory of the cross’ and ‘Consistency the jewel’. ‘Means for ascertaining the will of God’ and ‘Man’s salvation depending wholly upon his willingness to be saved’ were the sermons for March 1^st. ‘Life’s chain woven of diversified fabrics’ and ‘John the Baptist and his message to the world today’ were the sermons for March 8^th. The pastor preached on ‘Christ, the essence of all good in modern life’ on March 15^th. The Women’s Missionary Society met with Mrs. Ada Chandler where a program was given by the children and young people. Afterwards a ten cent tea was served. The morning sermon for March 29^th was ‘The battle of the boy for manhood’. A YMCA program was held in the evening. The sermons for April 5^th were ‘The unnatural and unnecessary battles a boy is compelled to fight for manhood’ and ‘Home sweet home, and some things that make it otherwise than sweet’. An Easter program was rendered in the morning and a missionary program consisting of music, a dialogue by five young ladies, and a brief address by the pastor was in the evening of April 12^th. “The church is not primarily built for the dead, but for the living. The dead are indeed welcome to our church, but our most cordial welcome is to the living”-Pardeeville Times of April 17^th, 1914. The sermons for April 19^th were ‘Break up the fallow ground’ and ‘the coming dry wave and what of it’. The morning sermon of April 26^th was ‘God always on time’ and the sermon in the evening was given by Rev. F. C. Rhoades of the Union Church of Waupun. The morning sermon for May 3^rd was ‘The families of earth and heaven, and the universal Father’. A union service was held in the evening at the Presbyterian Church. Miss Jennie Jackson, representing Milwaukee Deaconess’ Home spoke on the Deaconess’ work spoke the morning of May 17^th at the church. The evening service was on World peace. Prof. A. J. Henkel, Rev. J. B. Cole, Mr. H. P. Thompson, and Rev. Samuel Olson were speakers. The sermon in the morning was ‘The Christian patriot and his laurels.’ And in the evening a baccalaureate service was held at the Presbyterian church. May 29^th the commencement exercises of the Pardeeville High school were held at the church and an alumni banquet was held at the church on May 30^th. The morning sermon of May 31^st was ‘How to discover the goodness of God’ and in the evening Rev. Jesse McElroy of Washington Island preached. THe evening service was preceded by a thirty minute service of song and testimony. The sermons for June 7^th were ‘The world being uplifted by the uplifted Christ’ and ‘Millions in ignorance while the world is running over the truth’. The morning sermon for June 14^th was ‘When life ceases to be monotonous’ and the evening sermon was an address on Christian education. The sermons for June 21^st were ‘The four acts of religion’ and ‘Why David longed for a drink from the well of his childhood’. Miss Ann R. Thomas sang at the morning service of June 28^th. The morning sermon was ‘Is it right or wrong for Christians to strive daily to popularize Christianity?’ and ‘The relation of seriousness to salvation and success’. The Epworth League held a business meeting at the church followed by a marshmallow toast on July 5^th. July 8^th the Ladies Aid Society met in the park for a basket picnic. ‘The Sabbath rest’ and an address on: “William McKinley as seen and known by Bishop Fowler” was heard at the church on July 12^th. The sermon for August 2^nd was ‘The immovable, moving mightily’. The sermon theme for August 9^th was ‘When it pays to abandon the accumulations of a life time.’ and in the evening ‘Why the prince of peace cannot bring peace to the nations without war.’ ‘The relation of prayer to progress’ and ‘A faithful saying and worthy of acceptance’ were the themes of the sermons on August 16^th. The morning sermon of August 23^rd was ‘A timely question asked by a grateful soul’ and the evening sermon was ‘The immodesty and self-intrusion of the devil’. The Epworth League had a program on ‘Our work in Europe’. For three weeks on Sunday evenings, starting on August 23^rd, a gospel tent meeting was held at the park and led by Rev. W. H. Hills and F. F. Wolfe of Milwaukee. The sermons for August 30^th were ‘The good will of a lifetime’ and ‘Misleading sign boards and bewildering voices’. The Epworth League had a program on ‘Charles Wesley and his hymns’. September 6^th the morning sermon was ‘The ways and acts of God’. The Epworth League’s program was ‘The song of lofty expectations.’ The sermon for September 25^th was ‘The onward tread of the hosts of God’. ‘What money is to the commercial life faith is to the spiritual life. To be comfortable one must have enough.’ And ‘When Men turn their backs on God they will have all sorts of help to make elaborate preparations to go to hell.’ were the sermons for September 27^th. An excellent meeting was held at the church on the evening of October 4^th where the Presbyterian and Methodist congregations united in a union meeting. Mr. C. H. Jackson, county secretary of the Y. M. C. A., Mr. Cushman of Wyocena, Mr. Markham, county secretary of Rock county, and Mr. Babcock, county secretary of Sauk county, gave speeches on the responsibility of the community to the young men and boys. October 25^th the morning sermon theme was “The personal act of entering into the kingdom of God, and what hinders.” The evening sermon was “The expulsive power of Christian instinct.” The Epworth League program for the night was “How can I win my friend for Christ?” The sermon themes for November 1^st were “The tears of Jesus” and “An invitation to a throne.” November 22^nd the sermon theme was “That which is never a drug on the market” and a union service was held at the Free Methodist church in the evening. Thanksgiving Day the Ladies Aid Society held a dinner in the church parlors for twenty-five cents. November 27^th the Women’s Foreign Missionary Society met to study the first chapter in the study book ‘The Child in the Midst”. December 12^th the Ladies Aid Society held their annual bazaar. The menu consisted of: roasted chicken with dressing, cranberry jelly, mashed cream potatoes with giblet gravy, chopped rutabagas, mixed pickles, celery and pimento salad with mayonnaise dressing, brown and white bread, assorted pies, doughnuts, coffee and tea. December 24^th a Christmas party was held at the church. December 27^th the sermons were “The call of the ages” and “The forever and ever of God’s sovereignty”. 1914: “Thrifty mothers let nothing go to waste. So we gathered old papers and sold them and made a good profit. The bazaar this year brought in $99.65.”
